From any distance, Over Owler Tor reminds me of the battlements of an ancient fortress, ruined in some long forgotten siege. It's a bit of a geologist's playground too, with many rocks weathered into odd shapes. Littered with abandoned millstones, history is in abundance. As are climbing opportunities for those so inclined.

How to get there: From Surprise View Car Park on the A6187 Sheffield to Hathersage Road, go through the wooden gate and take the footpath up through the trees. Follow the footpath past Mother Cap rock and Over Owler Tor is straight in front of you. Alternatively, park at the back door to Higger Tor and follow the footpath across Hathersage Moor, past the sheepfold and over WInyard's Nick.
