Tideswell church is known as the Cathedral of the Peak. It owes its beautiful and harmonious appearance the fact that it was built over a very short period of 60 years during the 1300s. Large windows create a light space decorated with wonderful wood carvings. Church-clypping ceremonies were once held at St Johns, also known as the Cathedral of the Peak for its beauty. The congregation, along with others from Litton and Millers Dale, would join hands to encircle the church. They sang, We love the place O God, wherein thine honour dwells.
